Japan: Photographic Odds and Ends

Cash and carry garden center. While Dale is the master of getting plants into a suitcase this could be beyond his abilities.

My favorite sushi chef. We tried one of everything and it seem to amuse the locals.

Dr. Yokoi 's Variegated Plant collection. We spent a few hours rummaging through this vast collection of plants. Dr. Yokoi wrote the book on variegated plants.

Variegated Ragweed. Now my collection is complete.

OK-I have two comments! Shouldn't there be plants growing in those toilets? Put'em in the front yard and call it garden art-it's the only way I could justify toilet pictures from the plant hunter!

And please tell me you did not bring the weed back with you! It reminds me of the variegated artimesia I thought I had to have until it took over and tried to strangle me in the night! I think round-up may give the sam elook for those that want to have variegated ragweed.
    But anyway-your pictures amused me-thanks.

I could do without the Ragweed. Those Daisies are beautiful. If you had taken the tree home, a good deal would have been made for a bathtub too.

    Hey, Tim how was Masato-sensei?
See any cool perennials at the flower show?
Did Jardin bring in the Heucheras?

Sounds like a fun trip. The garden looks lush and healthy...something I'm wishing for as winter lingers...

  7. This is indeed an eclectic collection, and every single one reminds me of Japan so strongly I can hardly stand to look at them.

BTW, there's a raft full of messages waiting for you over at your Blotanical plot, inclucing one from me. Check them out sometime.
